Join me live, in-person on Thursday, July 1 at 7:00pm as I try to faithfully recreate Chopin’s last public performance on the basis of concert reviews and the research currently available to us.
Many people are quite surprised to view an authentic concert invitation from Chopin’s last public performance in Edinburgh on October 7, 1848, roughly one year before his death in 1849. Of peculiar interest is the composer’s improvisatory approach to programming devoid of any opus numbers or specific details of the works to be performed, an approach that was rather common throughout the 20 or so formal public concerts that he performed in his life.
